THE GF KID
When our daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease at 11-years-old (that’s 19 years ago, oy) the word “gluten” was not even part of people’s vocabulary and trying to avoid it was nearly impossible. My wife and I wrote a book for tweens with Celiac disease to help them understand and manage the challenges of being gluten free. It became the go-to bible for kids’ who needed to navigate this disease as well as their friends, siblings, parents and teachers.
Below are some spreads from the book.
Camp Pock-a-Wocknee
& the DYN-O-MITE Summer of ‘77
Camp Pock-a-Wocknee (Black Panel Press 2022) is a 300-page coming-of-age story filled with all the magic, memories, and mishegas that make up summers at Jewish sleepaway camp. Mashing up a nostalgic mood similar to The Wonder Years with the teenage rambunctiousness of a Superbad, Camp Pock-a-Wocknee combines cute, black & white, comic strip-style art with a "not for kids" story to capture the tension created when the innocence of childhood crashes into the messiness of adolescence.
